I thought Id give me personal view on my two favorite factions and why. Id also love to hear what everyone else likes about the Factions.
The Pact is always going to be something Im biased towards. The simple fact that I loved Skyrim and Morrowind so much make it hard for me not to find Nostalgia value in getting to see what became of the Nords and Dunmer. I also find the two races religions and culture so interesting. The Dunmer worship the Daedra and have such interesting architecture, as well as the personal fascination I have with the story of the Chimer and Dwemer conflict. On a less lore based note the Dunmer I think represent and interesting take on an elvish race. While most high fantasy has noble and haughty high elves and maybe something they call dark elves, the Dunmer are truly complex and dark. The history and racial tension, the conflict they endure and perpetrate. It all adds up to a subtle and nuanced people. The Nords while many games have barbarian like races I find the Nords to be well balanced between the romanticized idea of the Vikings and the reality of a warrior people living in a harsh climate. The fact that they played such a pivotal role in the earliest human empires and have Dragon Cults (weeee!) are a big draw as well. Overall the Races of the Pact are my favorite.
The Dominion is something I like for completely different reasons than the Pact. I find the locations to be amazing Vistas, and the fact that this is our first major foray into said areas a big incentive to play this faction. Im especially fascinated with Elsewyr and is dual landscapes. At first I wasnt sure what I thought of a cat race, but after reading up a bit and finding the form Khajiits are born into is affected by the moon and that their are even giant tiger Khajiit and intelligent house cat sized Khajiit I am now quite intrigued by the mysterious kittys. However Im not sure what I think of the Aloof Altmer and the Woodelves were definitely more interesting when they were tree hugging cannibals in the first era (true story). I also found the quest lines in Altmer territory especially engaging from a arching story prospective but not as original or emotionally engaging as some of the moral dilemmas in the Pacts zones.
So overall a huge fan of the races of the Pact and their culture but engaged as well in the Khajiit and the landmass around the Dominion. Im not sure why but the Covenant simply didn't enthuse me all that much. I would love to hear others thoughts, especially if you disagree because as I said its hard for me to separate my two favorite games Skyrim and Morrowind from my opinion of the Pact. Cheers and hopefully this wasnt to TL;DR.
